何度もブログを更新しようと文章を作り始めては却下し、なかなか更新することができない状況が続いていました。最近の地球温暖化問題や石油価格の高騰等、真面目に考えれば考えるほど、もしかすると“照明デザイン”という視点で盛り上げることは、地球に対してマイナスなんではないだろうか・・。僕たちが無意識に生活していること自体が悪なのか・・少子化問題が問われてはいるが、それは経済社会を維持することが目的で、地球にとってみれば人間が多すぎるのでは無いか・・。自分の仕事に対して悩んでしまった状況が続いていました。
仕事を通じて背中を押してもらう。
香港のプロジェクトで、クライアントから直接の仕事が一段落した。僕たちのプレゼンテーションに十分な理解とともにお褒めの言葉を頂いた。もっとも嬉しいことは、光の本質を理解していただけたことだと思う。もともと“光”に対しての理解が、照明デザイナーに直接連絡を取るという行為に結びついたことだろう。最初の“光はおもてなし”から始まり最後は“光は苺大福”という感想を頂いた。何故“苺大福”かというと、「餅と餡と苺のバランスがとれていて、美味しい苺大福が出来上がるんですね！そして、餅を味わってもらう時・餡を味わってもらう時・苺を味わってもらう時など、その時々によりバランスのとり方が変化し、素材も調整する必要があるんですね・・！」と、上手い例えをしてくれた。
照明デザインセミナーで講演
基礎編ということで、光のこと、人のこと、照明設計、照明デザイン、という段階で話しをした。話しをしながら、本当に必要なことは何か、自分がどんな目的を持って照明デザインを生業としているのか等、明確に浮き出て来た。明るい環境下では見つけられることの出来ない感覚…不便の中に在る安心感…見えないから見えて来る事柄など、大切なことが再認識された。
問題は、経済社会には評価されないので、仕事としては成り立ちにくいことか・・でも、こんな風にしか出来ないのだから、やるしかないと思っている。
